3 Responsibilities of Every Christian
Every Christian person has many responsibilities, but there are three that really stand out.
1. Control Our Thoughts
The human mind is so powerful that it attracts to it what it focuses on. If we focus on our blessings, more blessings will come. But, if we focus on the things that seem to be wrong in our lives, guess what we will attract? That’s right, more of the same!
Since whatever we focus on becomes magnified and attracted to us, we must take great caring in controlling our thoughts! Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks, so is he.”
2. Believe
Jesus said to only believe, for all things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23).
As He did His part on the cross by dying for us and giving us life abundantly, we are required do our part. What is our part? To only believe! To believe what? That He is God, and that He is faithful to His Word. And, to believe that He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do.
We are to be believers, not achievers. That’s why we should not to be frustrated all the time, running around trying to do things only God can do. We are to cast all of our care upon Him for He cares for us (I Peter 5:7).
3. Be a Blessing
Being a Christian is about serving and being a blessing to others. When we serve and bless others, we are serving and blessing Jesus! In Matthew 25:40, Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these you have done it unto me.”
Nothing gives a person more joy than being a blessing to someone else. When we are a blessing we become blessed ourselves!
Jesus said in Luke 6:38, “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you give, it shall be measured to you
again.”
So we should work with our hands that we may have something to give to him who has need (Ephesians 4:28). 1 Thessalonians 4 says, “Increase more and more, aspire to lead a quiet life, mind your own business, work with your own hands, walk properly toward those who are outside, and lack nothing.”
Conclusion
There are many responsibilities for every Christian, but these three are vital to living the quality of life God wants for each of us.
